Asking congress to be great Americans!
By Marlene Kaiser of Kaiser Distributing
Today is my Father's birthday. He died in 2001 at 92, and I wanted to honor him. Yesterday I wrote an intel about how I feel about the congress and their cutting the budget. I think they are cutting in the wrong places. Also, I got to thinking that we, ordinary Americans, are being asked to sacrifice a lot. That got me to wonder what are congress people willing to sacrifice? Today to honor the remembrance of my father, I started a petition on Change.org to ask the congress people how they plan to sacrifice. Are they willing to forgo their pay raise this year? Are they willing to cut their pay by even 10% and to rescind their insurance since they are eliminating ours? How many perks, like free hair cuts, free gym membership, lunch at less that cost, plus many more I'm not familiar with are they willing to pay for now? We have to pay for them on less money than we had in the past. Are they willing to cut some of the deductions that they can take on their tax returns? What are they doing with excess money raised for their political campaigns? Are they willing to donate this to the government? What about their staff people, are they willing to cut their cousins, brother, wife or girlfriends job and pay? The list goes on and on. If you think like I do,click on the petition link below and you will be transferred to the Change.org site. For so many years I had to keep my mouth shut or risk losing my job, but now all they can take is my social security away, and I suppose they could find a way to do that too. Maybe they will audit my tax return, I hope not. Someone has to have the courage of their convictions, and if I learned anything from my father, that was it. Believe in what is right and be ready to fight for it.

I took a look at your petition. I'm not quite sure how Congress is cutting pay for cops, firefighters and educators, since none of those are paid by Congress in the first place. Can you elaborate?

I am more than happy to sign your petition, Marlene. I really don't understand how our congress can rip off the people that elected them to serve our best interest. Keep up the good work. Best wishes. Frederick
Local news investigators are calling attention to our congressmen's pork projects. It is amazing how much public tax dollars is spent on politician's pet projects. Some 'pet projects' go as far as redirecting the path of public road constructions to swing by personally owned undeveloped property.
I am wishing you well with Great Americans day and what we're willing to sacrifice for your nation. I say yes as long as its not our lives.
