Being a weirdo
By Marlene Kaiser of Kaisers Distributing
This week is just up my ally. I have been thinking that all of you reading my intels must have discovered how weird I really am. Then comes this weird week. Since I've seen so many weird things, and been considered so weird I couldn't resist writing this. It all started very early.I learned to turn cartwheels about kindergarten, so I quit walking and turned cartwheels every where I went. My mom solved the obvious caused by being required to wear dresses to school. She made matching panties to my outfits. Then my first grade picture came, and I was the only one with a handkerchief pinned to my dress. Still looks weird when I run across the picture. Then I had children, and they became teenagers who didn't hesitate to let me know that I was not only weird, but over the hill. To cap this I was teaching English at the time to Freshman, sophomore and low reading students. They made me feel like a worm. Oh yes, when I was in college, I wrote an essay about this little worm, and the teacher had me read it in class. The whole class knew I was weird then. I had nothing to hide any more. Now, I have grandkids, and they all say "grandma, that's so weird", whenever I suggest something to do, like pick up a leave and study it, or just sit and talk, or even have a good cry over something so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes. One of my grandsons informed me when I came to visit and he was about five, that he wasn't the hugging kind. It took a while, but I finally got a hug out of him. He even came running to give me one. Guess that's one time I wasn't so weird! After teaching I went on to work for the mentally handicapped, and even my employees discovered how weird I was. They kept saying, no one but you would do that. It didn't seem to matter what I did, they said that, but since I was the boss, they had a put up with it. I had my office painted inside furnace brown, at least that is what they said, and one time I had this fancy plant that only makes a flower every 20 years or so, I believe. Anyway, I found out why. I was having a conference with some very important people when it blossomed, and the smell forced us all to leave the room. I didn't know what it was then, but found out later. I'm sure they all thought it was me. Oh well, weird week. Let me count the ways, but I won't bore you anymore.I do hope you get a laugh out of this one. I've been writing about the dark side of life lately, so this was fun. Don't be surprised if I don't come up with some more weird things, but the weird things I know about were really serious problems to someone else, so maybe I won't write about them.
