Working for the Health Care Reform bill
By Marlene Kaiser
The new health care bill is coming under attack by the new congress. Many of those elected have said that they want to rescind this bill. Since the bill will affect so many people I felt that it should be featured because it is not readily known how it will affect most of us. By requiring every American to purchase basic health care insurance, the cost of insurance will come down because the pool of people paying into the insurance will be greater. Many Americans, especially younger people don't think they need insurance. This is not true, many of them are basically healthy and don't need the checkups and medications the elderly do, but still need at least the ability to go to the doctor when needed. Younger people also have accidents, and traumatic injuries from sports and other activities. Basic medical care early catches many of the problems that older people have before they become as large a problem. This will help to keep the middle age people in better health. Then they will reach senior citizen status with better health, cutting costs to seniors. Americans who have access to the medical system now, tend to have jobs and be better able to work. Many Americans are unable to work or be as fit at work as they should be, because they don't have access to medical care. Mothers of young children can keep their children healthier by taking them for care sooner. In the long run, this ability will keep health care costs down and children less likely to develop lifetime problems due to lack of health care. Fewer mothers and babies will die during delivery because they had adequate health care early in pregnancy and problem pregnancies were caught sooner. Emergency rooms can quit being the health care of choice for those without insurance. This will not only free up the emergency rooms, but will cost all of us much less because those of us with insurance aren't supporting those who don't have insurance. Hospitals and doctors will be able to afford more diagnostic equipment and better labs because they won't be absorbing so many medical bills that are not paid. I could go on and on, but this sample will support the need to maintain the health care bill and not let it be rescinded.

I also found myself advising them on how to become more healthy, and find inexpensive ways to maintain good health through good eating and taking supplements. That is why my interest in Watkins Products.

Contributor's Note
Please go and sign my petition, there are over 1,000,000 on a petition to rescind the bill. I'm sure that many of those signing to rescind the bill do not really understand what the will bill do. They are only thinking about the initial cost, and are being influenced by those who have a special interest in seeing that it be rescinded. Also the web site is so much more sophisticated that I can do.

I am glad you included a petition. I hate it when a web site talks of the importance of whatever issue and doens't give any way of doing something. I like what you wrote. I'm just hoping you think any US health care reform bill should include parity. This term means equal coverage for mental and physical health coverage. I know parity is law. I'm here to gently remind you mental health care is important too.
CONTRIBUTOR'S REPLY
That is one of the things I really liked about this bill. It does include parity. The bill covers all aspects of what an individual needs to be healthy. That is one of the reasons some people are against it because they don't see any need for mental health, alternate health treatments or for something they don't believe in.
